Default Deron Williams number retired for Besiktas: Yay or Nay?

I'm not sure what to think of this, on the one hand it's a really nice gesture, on the other hand he didn't even play a full season.

At the very least it isn't as bad as the Heat retiring Jordan's number.

2: Never dismiss Argentina solely because of age.
3: Never bet against Spain in a knockout game, unless it is against the US.

Definitely a bad idea, I mean yes, he performed well, albeit in FIFTEEN games. I know European seasons are shorter than the NBA one but still, only a handful of games and you're going to retire the man's number?!?

It's ridiculous and a bit embarrassing imho. As far as i've read on other sites, all Besiktas fans are pissed off about it. It's the idea of their president alone.

Besides, retiring jerseys is not a tradition in Europe at all. This was just a laughable stunt.

I was wondering about that, this is the first number I can remember being retired in any context in Europe.

The president is a fool. I kinda feel sorry for the fans. By doing this, it's like Beşiktaş labeled itself as basketball midget...

Cibona did that with Drazen Petrovic, but befor 2 years ago other players used his 10. they raised Andro Knego and Mihovil Nakic jearsey. after that 4, 10 and 11 can't be used. Tough I'm pissed they didn't raised Nikola Plecas jersey. Mirko Novosel influance

Zadar retired last season Kreso Cosic and Pino Giergia numbers

I think it's good tradition and should be done in erope

but this with deron is just nuts

I said coach why we practice so much. He said God will bless us after all this hard work. How can I argue with that !

Truly a legend of Turkish basketball. I think they should have given them one of those Turkish names too, like they did with Erwin Dudley.
