    Games today:

    vs

Crucial crucial tiff for the Bolts. A must-win to say the least or they'd be out of contention this early.

    vs

Barako on the same boat as Meralco with a 1-3 card. Up against a streaking Powerade too... Something tells me Willie Miller actually wants to win tonight. Powerade has not lost against the spread for a time too so this one is a tricky game to call...

    Barako wins by ten.

Rodney White...I wonder if he's the same White who used to dunk from the freethrow line with both hands in the NCAA...hmmm...

The key really is Willie Miller. If he plays the right way, with passion and motivation he's one of the best players in the PBA-- and even a great leader because his teammates follow suit. Too bad at (or oft) times he'd rather have an off-night rather than play his best. i do hope this continues because Barako is fun to watch. And with a collection of ragtag, disposed stars and semistars they are a fun underdog to watch.

Regarding Rodney White, if i remember correctly he was a serviceable rotation player with the Nuggets and i used him in Playstation as well.

same here, i use him in playstation. i give him minutes about 10 per game in a 28 minute game. avg close to 8-10 pts per game for detriot.

    right.
i remember that guy dunked from freethrow line while doing a between the legs.
i think a former import of ginebra defeated him in his last year in ncaa slam dunk competition ata.

I have a question, what makes the coach a great motivator? is it his mild demeanor or being soft-spoken? or is it just another meaning to having weak personality? for some pba coaches, i noticed they treat fil-foreigners differently, call it what you will, could be colonial mentality but there it is. for the same mistakes, they would immediately scold the locals while keeping silent when the fil-foreigner commits errors.

Great points to open for discussion. i do think that is happening anywhere in our society. We treat foreigners differently because of various reasons. One of them is treating them differently because of possible clash of cultures?

As for your question of what makes a coach a great motivator i think it goes both ways. You can be the aggressive outspoken kind of coach (Yeng, Gregorio) or be the mild-mannered (Perasol at times) one but still be effective in both. The key is communication really. If i can get my player to play better by just one icy stare, that's already a good motivational ploy.

Great 2nd half by BMEG. Seems to me like Bowles is starting to get real comfortable with his teammates and the system. Though i don't see much of a Triangle or even a James Yap explosion the team effort is a good sign for what seems to be a struggling BMEG squad. Then again it's against a scrub team like Air 21 so maybe i am looking too much into it.

Douthit dominated the young Bowles (just learned that he's just 22 years old) early on blocking a couple of shots of his counterpart. But in the 3rd (late 3rd i think) and 4th it was all Bowles as the Llamados had better defense against Marcus. And oh, credit to Rafi Reavis, 80% of the time he was the man against Marcus-- of course with constant help defense here and there.
