Game later. I thought Tnt did fairly well in the first game. They were aggressive and kept attacking the hoop and was awarded 30-35 free throws and converting only what 15 of those?

Me thinks, that TnT are going to give the ball more to Harvey at the post because it's so obvious that no one from B-MEG's line up can't match up with this man mamaw. Kelly Williams can take care of Bowles but needs a little help from Ranidel ( kaunting elbow ba Ranidel ).

But the problem with that play, TNT isn't used to that kind of low post/iso plays in their playbook...I guess they need to be 1 step quicker unlike in their 1st game, Bmeg outrun them especially in the fastbreak!

Yup, i know. But when in doubt go to your import, after all your import is supposed to be your best player on the floor. If you watch closely the first game no one in B-MEG's line up can match up with Mamaw Harvey. I mean TnT needs to get 18-25+ points and 10+ rebounds from Harvey to fuel their running offense.

On the defensive end, Alapag is a liability especially if the player he's guarding is posting him up and it doesn't help if that player is Peter June Simon.

On a very personal note i want TnT to win this conference just to justify his appointment as a coach for our national team.

Looks like TNT is pumped up. A dozen points lead early in the 2nd.

May i say, "it's over" already?

Rumors are rife that MVP, just this afternoon, has already sealed the deal in purchasing GMA7. Is this a case of double celebration for him?

WTH that was a wild finish, TNT steals the game away from BMeg. Castro with a big three for a one point TNT lead, then BMeg misses, commits errors while TNT muffs 4 FTs before Reyes and Alapag ices the game with their FTs. So its turning out to an epic series.

Read that too. If the deal pushes through, AKTV won't need IBC anymore i think that is a good news for the PBA.

And oh, WHAT a weird but great freaking end game. All those missed free throws and all those bungled opportunities to get back for BMEG. 1-1 series.

why not? assuming all rumors turn to be valid and accurate, where would the pba be shown? gma 7, newstv? and the pba contract is with tv 5. and mvp likes to have a sports channel. so unless aksyontv becomes the sports channel or gma 7 buys the pba contract of tv5 and reformat gmanews tv or create a new sports channel under gma, ibc will still be needed.

Didn't Qtv (a gma channel) also win the bid to show all the ABL games of both SMBeer/AAPatriots next year (season 4)? AKTV meanwhile, won the bid for the NCAA. Hmmmm ... something's afoot. Maybe a "super sports only channel" is around the corner. JPM, what say you?

    On Topic:

Two ginormous endgame errors did BMEG in - the ill-advised, hurried, and off-balanced James Yap jump shot, and the Denzel Bowles errant pass. tsk tsk tsk sayang.

The PBA has a contract with MVP and TV5 group of channels and NOT TV5 alone. So it's pretty much the prerogative of the owner where to show it. TV5 is actually paying IBC for the air time. If the GMA deal pushes through they don't need to pay for that airtime any more.

Aksyon TV is basically GMA News TV (News channel)
TV5 is basically GMA to what is ABSCBN

They put the PBA on IBC because there's no air time available (and Willie and the news would be hard to move) in those channels. What MVP is missing is their version of Studio 23-- this is where the new acquisition will come into play. There will be redundant channels and they will be reformatted eventually. (Side note: MVP also has Hyper their version of Solar Sports/Balls-- so i feel they'd eventually go that route too, maybe try to steal NBA and outbid Solar too-- they did it to the ultra-popular and cashcow WWE already )

ur assumptions would surely be valid if and when mvp decides to reformat his existing channels under tv5 which of course would be a turnaround from their press statement that their aggressive bidding for gma would not affect their tv5 channels.

Well then what should we expect, that they keep paying air time to IBC despite owning 4 channels + 1 cable channel? That's just not bad business even for the great MVP. Heck we could even both be wrong-- MVP buys IBC entirely and we won't have this discussion. Anyway, it's all assumptions for now but we do agree that MVP buying GMA would be a good thing eventually for the league-- just lots more medium... Not to mention, monopolizing the market again-- similar tactics to Smart + Sun wicked merger Ratings war says ABS has around 40% then let's give 40% to GMA (since they claim they are #1) and the other 15% to TV5-- in a 60 billion swoop, MVP would have dominated the market at 55% and ABS crying their ass off.

possible. and tv5 and gma can swap or share talents like crazy (though this would be bad in the long run). 1 entertainment channel, 1 alternative entertainment channel, 1 sports channel, 1 news channel. i think thats the best in case there'll be a tv5-gma merger or consortium or something. and maybe we could wish for an alternative sports channel - all basketball - pba, nba, dleague, ncaa, abl, etc. hehe.

Ultra silent about the game tonight by the way. Maybe because James Yap finally exploded?

Exploded? More like an explosive brain fart. I though this guy had enough veteran smarts and maturity to stay in control. Where did it all go? Why did he rush that shot?

The last play where they fouled Bowles with 14 secs and up by 3 was incredibly smart. I think even Tim Cone didnt see that coming. It was the same thing that Lebanon did against Gilas in the semifinals of the Stankovic Cup..

Yes we define players with a single play and forget about the other things he did in this game. Not a fan of Yap at all but come on, that was a great game from him.
