It's interesting to remark that Nerlens Noel has finally been named to a senior national selection.

I am intrigued on how Tony Parker developed. I see him being molded into a power forward as 6'8 is quite undersize to play center. Muhammad is the biggest name there. While I had a feeling McGary will be selected. The baller had made literally climbed up the rankings from a town prospect into a national talent.

I would have liked to see Alex Poythress on the team. He has been impressive from what I've seen. Parker seems like a somewhat strange choice but I'm guessing USA basketball selected him over guys like Isaiah Austin and Brandon Ashley because he played on the junior teams previously.

This class, as I've said before, I don't think is very strong. Although I've been critical of Muhammed in the past, he has continued to produce and I've become more of a believer now. Noel is definitely a force in the paint and Kyle "Slo-Mo" Anderson just finds a way to get it done with limited speed and atheticism. He is a fun to watch. I'm also a fan of Goodwin and Paige, both are explosive players.

Two of the highest rated players playing in the US in this class are internationals- Steven Adams and Anthony Bennett, hopefully they will participate. Should be a good game this year if the International team can continue to bring their high level prospects.

I also had some other names in mind, but probably USAB have their preferences and the roster is just ten spots !
This year's class has some excellent players and is a good level one, but 2011's was imo better.
Of course the result will be reflected by the International team's level. Hope that Adams and Bennett will participate, as well as some European standouts who have already earned int'nal experience.

One such international player that I would like to see is Russia's Dmitry Kulagin.

Together with Sergey Karasev he was the U19 Russian NT backbone at the 2011 World's championship.

Kulagin DOB is July 1, 1992 and imo it's difficult to see him at the Hoop Summit.

    Any rumors about international roster?

I was told that Leo Westermann ('92) from France was invited as well as Aleksandar Cvetkovic ('93) from Crvena Zvezda. Kulagin was also selected to the international team, but has got some visa problems and probably will be not able to go.

I also read that Léo Westermann and Aleksandar Cvetkovic have been selected to the World Team, don't know about Kulagin.

Ok. Clint Capela ('94), forward from Elan Chalon will not go this year, maybe next.

Who can be invited too? Maybe canadian Anthony Bennett from Findlay Prep School?

    Anthony Bennett would be fine.
NZ Steven Adams ? He would be a challenge for the US bigs, Alejandro Abrines (Spain) ? He's 1993 and was named the 2011 U18 Fiba Euro MVP.
Mateusz Ponitka and Przemek Karnowski would be eligible as well, but they already played in last year's Hoop Summit.

Abrines is already pleying regularly with Unicaja so no chance. Dani Diez could be an option?
Regarding Ponitka, Karnowski or even Saric, as far as i know you can play several times in the tournament.

That's right, players can participate more than once, I was just thinking that it would be nice to have new faces at the tournament.

In this review a list of players who showed twice at the Hoop Summit.

According to my knowledge Przemek Karnowski was not invited this year. Don't know what with Mateusz Ponitka, but if he was the best scorer last year of world team, so I don't see sense of inviting him one more time.

I said coach why we practice so much. He said God will bless us after all this hard work. How can I argue with that !

    World team fìnalized:

    http://www.usabasketball.com/mens/ho...it/roster.html

Dario Saric and Evan Fournier return from last year's selection; Canadians Anthony Bennett and Andrew Wiggins are in; noteworthy European guards Aleksandar Cvetkovic, Dmitry Kulagin, Léo Westermann and Michal Michalak; big men with Wang Zhelin (7-0), Marcos Delia and Patson Siame of Zambia.

Anybody knows Patson Siame? I just remember he played the 2009 U16 Fiba Africa tournament...

I am happily surprised to see Wiggins playing given how young he is. From what I've seen, he looks like the most talented high school prospect in the world right now regardless of age. A nice roster selection for the world team IMO, although I'm only really familiar with Saric, Fournier, Bennett, Wiggins, Cvetkovic and Kulagin.

Wang Zhelin played against the Duke team that visited China last summer, right? Does anyone know how he performed?

I think the game will be very tightly contested this year, should be fun to watch.

    One question and one comment:

    1) Is the international team allowed to bring players that are a year older than the U.S. players? I just thought that may be the case with the number of guys playing for the international team this year that participated in the U19 World Championships a full year ago- Cvetkovic, Kulagin, etc. I believe that has been the case in the past as some of the players like Biyombo last year were eligible for the NBA draft immediately after playing in this game (I believe Fournier would be eligible for this year's draft as well).

    2) It seems like in recent years the U.S. teams prey on the international teams guards and when the international team has won or kept it close they have been led by big men (Motiejunas and Macvan in 2009 when they won, Kanter the following year and Biyombo last year). Eyeballing the rosters the strength of the international team this year appears to be its guards and wings- it will be fun to see who will get the better of whom in those matchups. In particular I am looking forward to seeing Muhammed v Wiggins and Kyle Anderson v Saric.
