Default Euroleague FINAL FOUR 2012 - Istanbul

    final-four-istanbul-2012.jpg

Which team will win the Istanbul's final four ?

According my opinion and judging from what I have seen so far from these teams, the list is like that.

    1) CSKA (The number one favorite)
    2) BARCELONA (Good team good player, run & gun style)
    3) PANATHINAIKOS (Good chemistry good coaching but not that good as CSKA and BARCA)
4 OLYMPIACOS. (A team that comes here as the underdogs. But it's a talented young team and thirsty for success)

I wish I am going to be wrong, but I see an Olympiacos vs Panathinaikos 3d place game.
Of course here in Greece we would love to have a final between those teams. It would be the first Greek final of Euroleague.

I have a feeling though, that one Greek team will be in the final and it will not be Panathinaikos.

Educated guess, CSKA-Olympiakos final, 7 point win for the Russian Team!

    And just for the History.

    Final four titles.

PAO They have won all of their European titles in modern final four system era. (something it begun in 1988) 1996,2000,2002,2007,2009,2011. PAO final record is 6/7. (The best record) This is the 12th final four for PAO.

CSKA They have won 2 of their 6 Euro league titles under final four system in 2006, 2008. CSKA final record is 6/11 and its their 10th participation in a final four.

BARCELONA They have won all of their Euro league trophies (2) in final four system in 2003 , 2010. BARCELONA final record is 2/7 (one of the worse final records I guess) and it's their 7th participation in a final four.

OLYMPIACOS is the team with the less trophies (one in 1997) and their final record is 1/4. This is their 6th final four.

4 teams holding 15 of the 54 Euroleague titles in total. Amazing !!!

    Who voted for PAO ?
I think it's very difficult to win the trophy this year. We barely make it to F4. (of course we had the strongest opponent in play off games)

And statistical, a 7/8 record is unachievable in my opinion. It would be crazy if that happen.

For me this year's trophy would be if Obradovic and Giannakopouloi bro, would stay in the team next year. I can't see Pana with out Zeliko. It won't be the same team never, and Itoudis as a head coach in PAOK, wasn't that good. (Good to be aware of that in case they promote him as a head coach in Pana.) Of course Itoudis after so many years spending next to Obradovic, as an assistant coach, probably he will have improve his coaching level/skills.

    -----------------------------------------------------

    1) Something else we should say for Istanbul's final four, is that Olympiacos won his Euroleague trophy with Dusan Ivkovic and now the same person coaching the team.
    2) CSKA as many times they have participate to F4 along with PANA, they never won the trophy.

Would bet my money on CSKA, but will support Panathinaikos. I like this team since old times, also would be nice to see Saras holding 5th time Euroleague Cup, they are very experienced team, so i wouldn't be siurprised if they do it again. But the most predictable final Cska - Barcelona.

The semifinals between Cska and Pao will be really hard, so I think that this physical exhaustion might be an "advantage" for his opponent in the final, even if we are talking about teams with deep rosters and without an important level of exigency in their domestics leagues. Otherwise, it will be interesting to see Kazlaukas and Obradovic face to face, in a one-match semifinals, IMO Obradovic is the best coach in Europe in this kind of KO games, even if he had some errors in the 5th game vs MAccabi that could be overriding to Pao losing the game with same confusion in the changes between Maric/voyoukas during the last quarter.

On the other semifinals, Barça is favourite but this year, with less money, and without being favourites Oly is doing a great season in both european and greek competitions.

At last, there are some old rivalries and possibles revenges that may happens, like a final Pao-Barça, the semifinals Oly-barça with their game in 2010 in our minds...

and more statistical information about the FF:

    - If Barça wins will be the team in the present euroleague format wich wins the title with less games losing during the tournament.

-If Pao wins, Obradovic will have more european championships titles than Real Madrid.

    - All the four coaches in this Euroleague have already won an euroleague title.

And if PAO make it till the end, we will have won 7 out the 8 EL Finals.
I think it's very difficult, but if it happen, we will have a great record. 6/7 is already an unbreakable record any way.

Well the way things are it is difficult to make a prediction.
If let`s say it was cska-olympiakos and pao-barca then i would bet my money on a cska-pao final.
But the way things are now i can`t
Nobody can`t underestimate the ability of pao to win such games no matter who has against him
and nobody can`t underestimate the ability of barca to loose such games no matter who has again her.
    lol

well i just hope there wont be a Oly-PAO final or 3rd place game.. Because on may 13th there is Fenerbahçe-Galatasaray football game(which may determine the champion. final game of season) I cant imagine PAO-Oly final and Fenerbahçe-Galatsaray championship game @ same day... İstanbul can be a battlefield...

Is it true that Krstic isn't going to play against PAO?
Without CSKA's 1st scorer and 2nd rebounder, what do we need?
One of the (usual against Obradovic) chaotic games of Teodosic.
    And PAO makes the surprise

Seriously, I believe that CSKA will win easily (taking a big margin early) or PAO will win the game.

I'll be rooting for Panathinaikos. They have two living European basketball legends - Saras and Diamantidis. They're two of the most experienced and smartest players in Europe.

Other than that, you still have Batiste, who's still dominating in the post. Then you have Calathes, a good PG, along with Logan. Sato, Kaimakoglu and Perperoglu are all great shooters. You guys are a well-rounded team, offensively and defensively. Plus you've got a load of fans cheering for you. You've got nothing to worry about.
