Interesting.. They've decided to go with Ateneo-Letran and La Salle-San Beda for the opening instead of La Salle- Ateneo, Letran-San Beda or La Salle-Letran, Ateneo-San Beda.

    Letran 51
    Ateneo 55
    Final

Greg Slaughter is the player of the game with 14 pts and 15 rebs. He was mostly checked by the smaller Letran bigs in the 1st half. Kevin Alas was inserted for the first time in the final 40 seconds of the game. Mark Cruz ran wild in the early minutes of the 4th to cut the ADMU lead to one. Jonathan Belorio had two wide open misses that could have tied the game.

Ryan Buenafe looks overweight with those flappy big arms and hips. He was a tad slow in executing his usual moves. Nico Salva saw limited minutes while Letran played without big man Raymund Almazan and Fil-Am Vj Espiritu.

Mark Cruz was very exceptional with those Chris Paul moves in the pick-en-roll situations. Kris Porter had his first taste of college basketball as he was roughen up by Jam Cortes with a flagrant foul.

55-51 Ateneo wins. Kevin Alas showed up in the last 30secs or so for the crucial play but passed the ball to a teammate who drove and was blocked by Slaughter. Physical game by Letran, shoving/wrestling applied on Slaughter and there even was a punch to Ravena's mid-section. As posted above Almazan, an outstanding shotblocker, did not suit up for Letran so let's just say this was an OK game for Slaughter against the dwarf bigs of Letran.

    La Salle 63
    San Beda 69

San Beda erected a 14 point lead early in the 4th. But La Salle countered with its own run to trim the lead to 5 at 65-60. The Red Lions managed to take care of the lead to give the debuting Ronnnie Magsanoc its first coaching win at the college level.

Juice was the player of the game with 11 points (7 in the 2nd and 4 in the 3rd) and 4 rebounds for San Beda.

This was San Beda's 5th consecutive win versus La Salle in the FilOil.

though he shoot bricks from downtown, his post-up moves were very decent already, as i watched it yesterday he even toyed the bigger ola with some of his drop step and hook shots. He must do some weights to toughen his body and increase his vertical. this boy has a very bright future

I see him developing into a homeless man's version of Rasheed Wallace. Has a solid built and good inside moves but would rather shoot 3s. BTW how many points did he scored?

And Jeron Teng's got game. He's got a strong upper body and he finishes well in the paint.
