Default Why not Asia Champion learn from Europe?

In Europe, the Champion game has 2 groups: group A is higher level and group B is lower level. And the behind ones in group A will be instead of by the best ones in group B next time. So Europe Champion games are more competitive.
However, in Asia, every part has some places, for example, Southeast Asia has 2 places and east asia has 3 places. It looks fair for every region. But factully, it is unfair for strong basketball areas, so is it for the weaker ones. Some strong teams has danger of absence. And some weak teams come in the asia Champion, but lose a lot that makes they losing dignity and the games no suspense.
In fact, asia has more reasons to grouping: many countries and serious unbalance. There are 8~10 teams are stronger obviously than others in asia. I think 12 teams making up GROUP A is OK. Then the other teams also have a goal to work hard for. And the games will be more fierce.

Mojado makes a lot of good points there. A good read.

In fact, view from last 3 Asia Champions 2007,2009,and 2011, there are only 12 teams went into top10. this is their achievement below:

    top4(times) top8(times) top10(times)
    iran 2 3 3
    china 2 2 3
    jordan 2 3 3
    lebanon 2 3 3
    S.korea 2 3 3
    japan 0 2 3
    taipei 0 3 3
    Qatar 0 2 2
    Kazakhstan 1 1 2
    Philippines 1 2 3
    Syria 0 0 1
    United Arab Emirates 0 0 1

FIBA Asia is making changes, and the change that they come up with is (drum roll): the Asia Cup! (formerly known as the FIBA Asia Stankovic Cup, at least now the name isn't that confusing, so that's an improvement!): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FIBA_Asia_Cup

Played once every two years – alternating with the years of the FIBA Asia Championship – by Senior Men’s National teams, the FIBA Asia Cup (earlier known as the FIBA Asia Stankovic Cup) is the qualifying event for the following FIBA Asia Championship. The winners automatically qualify and the top five earn additional berths for their respective subzones.
This is completely bullshit, so if India makes it to the top 5 (like what happened in 2008, when only 5 teams participated) Sri Lanka gets a trip to Asia Championship while Chinese Taipei does not (In 2009 CT eventually got in after Bahrain withdrew, but still)! Deja vu all over again

I also wish Asia has Europe's system. Oh well.
