Default They are Asia basketall A!!!

In fact, view from last 3 Asia Champions 2007,2009 and 2011, there are only 12 teams went into top10. this is their achievement below:

    Asia basketball level A exist?
Anyway it's already much better than 10 years ago when there are only 3 or 4 asia teams are strong. Hope more potential NT come into this club. Which one will be the next? India?

I agree with you, Asian Championship needs to be reduced to 10-12 teams. 16 is too many, some teams just don't belong, you will never see 40, 50pt blowouts in Eurobasket, but they happen in every single Asian championship, sometimes more than a few times.

I think if we keep it at 12, Qatar should drop out if FIBA disqualify all the Africans. India has the potential to break in but it seems that their progress has been really slow. One team I think is improving ridiculously fast is Palestine, check their results these years, they are becoming a strong team in Asia. Other contenders should come from the Middle East or Central Asia -- although I'm also not sure whether Kazakhstan wants to play in Asia any more, but if they do, they should make the top 10.

Of course this is just talk, FIBA Asia never cares about quality, as long as they make money everyone is happy.

If it weren't for the overall situation in Palestine and the Palestinians could actually have all their players available they would have been one of the top teams in Asia, no doubt.
Sam Daghlas and the Abbas brothers wouldn't have joined to play for the Jordanian NT and would have instead played for the Palestinian one.
Add names like Jamal Abou Shamala, Nick Fadayel, the Sakakini brothers as well as some other players of Palestinian origin playing in the U.S high schools and colleges and you got yourself a legitimate team...

Exactly! In my opinion, they are India ,Iraq and Palestine.
However, I don't think Kazakhstan can play in europe. And I don't think FIBA will disqualify all the Africans. Instead, Qatar will be stronger, because they want to hold Olympic games. Do u have some proof?

You are right, Qatar has money and the right investment, and after the setback last year, they probably would find their way to rebound back. FIBA does allow getting naturalized players before the age of 16, so either they can find African guys with no birth papers who have never played in anything and change their ages (easier), or they can find African boys with potential and develop them (a lot more difficult). But they should be better than most Asian teams regardless, given their budget and the fact that they have a decent league (by Asian standards).

Khalid, based on their results these 2 years, Palestine is a decent Asian team without Abbas brothers & Daghlas already. They can only get better I believe, but of course it's subject to their political stability.

I forgot about Iraq, they are emerging as well as their political situation has gotten more stable (probably, not sure?). Afghanistan also, but their team being almost entire American-based will limit their selection pool. North Korea, if they are serious about basketball and actually send a team, could potentially crack the top 8-10, although I don't think they will. These teams IMO could improve, but probably not enough to make a lot of noise in the foreseeable future.
