The Argentina team is practically the same team that won the 2004 gold medal. Prigioni, Ginobili, Scola, are all in their 30s. If they don't find new blood fast, their rank will surely plummet... The Dominican Republic can overtake them in the near future.

MY RANKING: based solely on NT performance and potential (youth NTs), not on overall strength of basketball program.

Hahaha. If you have your biases. I also have mine. To each his own (bias) .

I am not kidding though. Casting biases aside, you must know that the competition in Asia is shaping up to be close. Yes, Iran and China are on quite a different level, but weigh the facts from Wuhan: Jordan beat Iran (and lost to China by one); the Philippines lost only by two to South Korea (and beat Jordan early in the tournament); Lebanon was booted out early. Below Iran and China, Jordan, Lebanon, South Korea, Japan, and the Philippines are almost on equal terms. I only ranked them based from their performance in Wuhan because they are almost on the same level, IF EACH COUNTRY SENDS ITS BEST PLAYERS.

PS: I put South Korea on 6th because I feel that Cho Sung-min's hot streak was the sole difference between his team and Philippines. We will find out more about how these ranking change once the Jones Cup and other tourneys start.

BTW is Lebanon joining the Jones Cup??? We Filipinos hope to see you there

well man, in Wuhan Lebanon was not in their full roster,
and saying Iran and China are on different level is exagerated, we already won Jordan and Iran last month in West Asia, with a roster of just 9 players.

yes Lebanon we'll join Stankovich cup, but there's a problem with the ministry support.

Well, the Philippines has not played with its ABSOLUTE BEST roster since 2005. There's a lot of politics involved as to why. And I've read that the new breed of Lebanese players are really good, so my ranking would really change soon. Also, Jordan has proven that China and Iran are indeed beatable, but they still are on a different level organization-wise.

And I'm talking about the Jones Cup to be held in Taiwan, not the Stankovic Asia Cup to be held in Tokyo

Agreed. After seeing the warm up games of Brasil, I believe this 2012 Brasil team is going for a medal, while Argentina could not.

Donewald has made a habit of getting more from this group than expected and has had them together since March to play nearly 40 -- yes, forty -- warm-up games.
China NT played 18 warm-up games this year. Again making up stuff when it comes to China, typical.

From a futures standpoint, Canada has some very good young players on the way. Andrew Wiggins is probably the best player in the 2014 class in North America.
