Actually, DT, you were right about the last argument that Jamskie threw at you. I think he slipped there.... The thing is, the way you argue is somewhat, I dunno... Streets? You have a sleek ability to point out the errors of your foe, but too careful not to make any mistakes. Dodging would be the term I guess.
Name calling? I'd say reserve that for KOTD and Flip top... Clash head on Man... Stop dodging. No disrespect, you got his numbers. But I admire Jamskie for atleast sticking to the topic... If you're going to pick a fight, atleast do it ala Pacquiao. Peace!

Technically speaking it was not name calling. i never called Jamskie a girl (i admit, we have no facts to prove that so that's just a possibility at the moment) i just called out his arguments and the redundancy of such as girly and generic-- you know, how your girl friends argue and repeat the same points as if repetition will make it correct.

Streets-- i'd take that as a compliment. When you argue with some close-minded people you do that sometimes just to prove the point. Else, you'll get posters like Jamskie and Alex and some

Going back, he accused me of being inconsistent (foreign vs local coach) when in reality i was just non-committal-- unlike him, i don't immediately bring these international coaches to pedestals and declare them as the saviors of Philippine basketball. i want a fair argument-- and you can't do that comparing national teams thrown in different situations, different eras and different rosters. If Jamskie can make conclusions while comparing apples to oranges... Well then, that's his problem and mistake, not mine.

Again, "possibly" is the keyword. As separate sentences that would mean differently; but you conveniently bolded just one part to prove your point. Tsk tsk. Again, reading comprehension.

Unlike you, i don't jump to conclusions (That foreign coaches are better), unlike you i think both has their own strengths and weaknesses that are thrown in to different situations (locals coaches never played with an import/naturalized player, quality of competition etc etc)

Nice try but thanks for helping me prove my point
"Again, "possibly" is the keyword. As separate sentences that would mean differently; but you conveniently bolded just one part to prove your point."

Ok point taken. I overlooked the word "possibly" & you're right, omitting that word will create a different meaning to a sentence.

Taking it from your sentence: "Do i believe PBA coaches can possibly do better in international competition than their foreign counterparts? i believe so", question is, how possible or how often that a PBA coach will outwit a foreign coach w/ vast international game experience? Maybe 1 in 20 times. Is that a good proposition?

I can also say that China can possibly beat team USA in the current Olympics, as if to say China has a chance of scoring an upset. As the saying goes "bilog ang bola" or "anything can happen". But the question is, what's the probability that China will win over USA? Maybe 1 out of 50? Is that a good proposition?

Toroman's stint w/ Smart Gilas w/c I believe was quite a success, proved that a foreign coach (with vast international game experience) handling team Philippines is the key to success. We had find the right formula for success. I just find it absurd that Mr. MVP abandoned the formula & went back to the old system ( PBA coach handling the nat'l. team) which had failed several times in the past.

Now you would sarcastically tell me: "Eh anong pakialam mo or anong magagawa mo eh si MVP ang sponsor ng nat'l. team. Pera nya yung ginagastos so he can do whatever he wants. MVP won't listen to whatever you would say so manahimik ka na lang & accept reality"

Man, that should not deprive us from reacting negatively or criticizing MVP. Never! The last time I checked, we are in a free country where freedom of expression is a privilege.

For instance if a newspaper columnist criticizes president Noynoy for a certain issue, would that be rational to say to that columnist: "Kahit ano pa ang sabihin mo, hindi naman makikinig si presidente sayo. Kaya manahimik ka na lang. Wake up, face reality & smell the coffee."

Is that how we should treat freedom of expression? Kaya nga tayo susamali sa social networking eh. We are here to express our thoughts & sentiments. Whether people in authority will listen to us or not is beside the point.

Unfortunately, your analogies are a bit off again. So let's TRY to compare apples to apples and oranges to oranges.

China beating USA today is practically impossible (at the No Chance in Hell Level) so why compare that with the foreign vs. local coach argument; the last time i looked the difference between those are not of China-US standards? Unless of course you are totally biased so we can't convince you otherwise.

It was quite a success but if you care to listen to Nardy, "quite a success" won't cut it with MVP. Will going with a local coach please MVP? We don't know as we have to see that yet. Unlike you, others here wait for results before passing judgement?

Now you would sarcastically tell me: "Eh anong pakialam mo or anong magagawa mo eh si MVP ang sponsor ng nat'l. team. Pera nya yung ginagastos so he can do whatever he wants. MVP won't listen to whatever you would say so manahimik ka na lang & accept reality"

What gives you the right to categorize who's opinions are sensible & who's opinions are non-sense? You talk as if you monopolize rational thinking. Pre, kung ayaw mo sa opinion ng iba, manahimik ka na lang & mind your own. If you find other people's opinion annoying & irritating, do you think they don't find yours irritating & annoying as well? Man, we are tired & sick of your biased & prejudiced opinions regarding the SMC group in which you are very much identified as a die hard fan. Yet we don't react to your posts as much as you sarcastically react to ours.

Notice how many times you had engaged in heated arguments w/ some posters here who felt insulted & irritated w/ your arrogance & sarcasm. Ilang posters na ba ang nakaaway mo dito? Pre, if you can't agree w/ the opinion of others, you can argue w/ them (or us) in a polite way, minus arrogance & sarcasm. Refrain from using profane & insulting words (which you are very good at). In that way, you can earn our respect & we can "co-exist" here in this forum in a harmonious way. Hindi yung nagmumurahan tayo dito & parang "away kalye" (as Aragon described it) ang nangyayari.

i can't promise. But as i mentioned many times, stupidity warrants sarcasm most times ESPECIALLY in this forum. As i mentioned, am not here to win friends but win arguments so take it for what it is. If you can't handle the heat, you get out of the kitchen, it is simple as that.

Greatest example would be Nardy-- butted heads with him many times but at the end of the day we respect each other as a poster (to an extent, maybe as a person too since we've known each other bit), we disagreed on a lot of debates in the past, maybe even hate the posts-- but never the poster, never the person.

Come on guys! Let's not get into any more name calling and personal accusations. Instead of getting back at each other you should either ignore the other person or simply report the posts which are offensive and the Moderators will take the required actions necessary.

Any more personal insults and bashing will lead to bans being given out.

Here's a reminder of the forum guidelines which I hope you will abide by
    .

    INTERBASKET.NET FORUM GUIDELINES

Most people at InterBasket.Net get along fine. This is a big site with very few problems and everyone has freedom of speech here.

If you follow these basic guidelines, you can help keep this site strong.

    DO
    • Use common courtesy
    • Exercise your good judgment
    • Debate respectfully
    • Translate to English by yourself or with a computer program
    • Build a good reputation
    • Report offensive behavior using the "report" buttons

    DON’T
    • Abuse, stalk, or insult other users (even if they deserve it or started it)
    • Spam, flood, or irritate
    • Intentionally start arguments or flame wars
    • Make off-topic posts

    EXTRA NOTES TO REMEMBER
    • Avoid discussing issues that are sensitive to other users. Some issues are obviously upsetting, especially issues of nationality. You won’t solve anything by making such discussions.
    • The best way to end any argument is to simply write "Whatever " and stop posting in that topic.
    • Spamming includes unwanted advertising. It is usually not a good idea to create a new post just to advertise another website. If your first post is a link to an ad for used basketball socks, you’ll probably get banned. (If an outside website is relevant to a discussion, post a link. Feel free to post a link to your personal website or blog in your signature).
    • Keep images and signatures at a reasonable size so that the site is easy for everyone to download. 450 pixels by 100 pixels is the largest size for a signature, even if the picture in your signature is linked to another site. • To avoid flooding (posting too much about the same thing in an inappropriate discussion), create threads for specific topics that you post a lot about. There is no need to interrupt the discussion of “EuroLeague Rumors and Signings” with lots of posts about the scores in the Andorran Division III League. Make a new thread about the Andorran Division III League and get people excited.
    • The “UN Forum” at the bottom of the forums homepage is a great place for “off-topic” discussions.
    • In the past, a few loud users have had trouble avoiding sensitive issues and insulting other users. When this happens, it is usually because of a sports rivalry that does not need to be dramatized on the internet. Remember: there are probably a few nice Lakers fans somewhere in the world, so don’t call them all “idiots.”
    • Please provide reputable links when you can. Links to online newspapers are clearly more reputable than links to a forum that contains wild rumors. If the link is not in English, please provide a translation.

    CONSEQUENCES
If users decide to damage the quality of InterBasket.Net by insulting, flooding, spamming, or otherwise violating the integrity of InterBasket.Net, moderators usually send several warnings. The moderators here are very patient and a simple reminder to the violating user is usually the end of the issue. However, should a user continue to hurt the discussion at InterBasket.Net, it will result in a series of temporary bans and, if the violations continue, end in a permanent ban.

There have been users in the past who joined InterBasket.Net and immediately started making racist or other prejudicial comments. These cases are always obvious and such users are banned without discussion.

    Nah. Unless SMB picks him.

On a more serious note, go to the draft thread so you'd see how people value Tiu.

"and while we are in the final days of the veeryyy loong PBA season, and in the thick of the collegiate season, our friendly neighbors are toughing it out against (the weaker) European teams."

    I like your point sir.

Yes, your exactly right. While our pro league has yet to play it's final game of the season, the pro leagues of our Asian neighbors had ended several months ago. Therefore their respective national team has been playing in international competitions (or tune-up games) since as early as June. Eh yung Gilas-2 national team natin has yet to play in a competitive international tournament (unless of course if we are that foolish to think that the SEABA tournament last July was a competitive tournament to start with). I think that's the downside of having an extremely long PBA season. Our national team will have limited time to train as a unit.

It was a good opportunity playing against lesser caliber European teams where our Nat'l. team can really compete. As the results you showed, even lesser hyped European teams were too much for the Nat'l. teams of Iran & Jordan. But I understand Iran & Jordan are missing their key players in this tournament.
