Sabonis meets with Kazlauskas, could this be the start of a new direction?

"Pirmadienį vienoje Kauno kavinių Krepsinis.net šaltiniams pavyko užfiksuoti Lietuvos krepšinio federacijos (LKF) prezidento Arvydo Sabonio ir vieno geriausių šalies krepšinio trenerių Jono Kazlausko susitikimą. Pokalbyje taip pat dalyvauja ir šalies krepšinio federacijos vykdantysis direktorius Paulius Motiejūnas."

Further rumours in Lietuvos Rytas paper today pretty well much hinting that the new coach will have a 4 year contract and it will be Kazlauskas!

Rumours or no rumours I just wonder of how do they choose the coach?
    Do they vote?
    If they do,who has a vote ?
Everyone or like just president ,secretary and the board if there such thing?
We all know that none of the candidates get along with Balciunas because they were mentioned in the "10"list,maybe apart from Kemzura. .
Is Balciunas that powerful to get his agenda on the table and have an upper hand on Sabonis?I am sure he will try .
I do not trust that guy and I suppose he doesn't really cares about anything long term, just his position in the federation.
Did you guys read Marciulionis rebuff on Balciunas accusations ?
My god, what a cunt that Balciunas is.
So dissimisive of one of our best players of all times.
I know that Marciulinios has a difficult character outside basketball etc like in his personal life ,but I never had doubt regarding his intentions towards Lithuanian basketball .
    And he is not alone

I sense Kemzura will not return next year. Let's just hope I'm right.

Seems like we have a new coach. Garastas couldn't keep his mouth shut again Not literally, but he said Kemzura won't continue as head coach and that new coch should be "experienced". It's not too hard to see it's going to be Kazlauskas. Actually it wasn't before that as well, Garastas just let people know that already. I think most fans will be happy about it.

Back to the topic - why Kemzura should be replaced - Marčiulionis opinion:

"Leaders must play even if they struggle at the bengining. If you replace ten players in the first quorter that means you don't have a game plan, confidence in your coaching. If coach doesn't believe in his players, the team won't succeed"

I don't understand this. So if Kemzura won a thing once that means he can fail N times in the future? No-one kept their mouth shut, Garastas was saying "finally I see young, organised and aggressive (hungry) team" back than. Kemzura was treated as national hero after that tournament and got a lot deserved good words. And than happened what happened. What exactly is the moral with that "poor Kemzura" compaign? Not the fist and not the last coach replaced after bad results...

Even now federation treat him with proper respect, saying that he'll probably be back in the future (Garastas), that we have a very good relations with the coah (Balčiūnas) and we are communicating.

The worst thing would happen - to say that since 2011 we are happy going for 5-8 places...

you really dont get this, while its so obvious tho.
As long as you are winning you are considered a good coach having a good game plan not being to young etc, etc... Once you start losing everyting turns around in an instant haha

Ha ha,that was nice exchange here.
Regarding Kemzura - there is a saying, which goes like "being a victim of your own success".
Classic scenario here- after an awful 2009 euro, which, let's be honest, was exactly that,we get a lucky shot to be in wc due to some philanthropy .
It went probably like this - do your best, prepare the team for next year.
Bang bang bang-And suddenly ,behold,we are nearly top of the world.
So all of the sudden the pressure is back on.Had we missed the WC,none of the results we achieved after would look so bad as we consider them now.
Only regret I see is that we never really played well .
    Euro,qualifiers and Olympics .
I would be able to forgive Kemzura results they have had,and I even can have some sort of compassion of the pressure he had to pick one player to another ,but even then I would expect something of the spark of promise the team had in 2010.
None. There was nothing of the sort.
Kemzura looks like he did nothing wrong, and that is probably correct assumption .but it is not to say that he did things right.
For once,it looks like amicable solution to get a new coach, without burying him in dirt.
I am sure he will be back one day.
    Stronger,wiser,more experienced.

Tommorow most likely its gonna be announce officially that Jonas Kazlauskas after 12 years is returning to coach Lithuanian national team. After talks with federation president Sabonis, they found common grounds and gonna sign 4 year deal until next olimpic games in rio .

WE lithuanian fans and our players respect this coach and no matter what greece or russian fans is saying we know better what Jonas is capable of doing.Good desicion by our federation, even biggest part of our fans (this is miracle btw ) agrees with this desicion.

And its most likely our team gonna prepare team for 2015 eurobasket, where places to olimpics games gonna be given. So 2013-2014 can be not so beatifull, but our gold is 2015 and 2016 tournaments...Atleast this was said non officially by our federation.

With Kazlauskas steering our national team, there'll be three Jonases. When somebody calls their first name, all three will look up .

I think that if no injuries occur and the three NBAers play, our team will do miracles next year. Next year's team will have a completely new generation of players.

I think you overreacting about miracles. We gonna add maybe 2-3 player that havent played in national team before all other 8-9 player wont be new.Motiejunas, juskevicius, kuzminskas who else gonna be added, that havent played before ? usually with new coach and system first championship is good for us 2003sirekas gold 2007 butautas bronze 2010 kemzuras bronze 2013 kazlauskas ? But firstly lets say how our youngster will do in nba and than talk about some kind miracles remember they gonna be only 21 and 23 of age ,so imagine they gonna come up and dominate against 28-30 years old men? i like this idea, but i dont believe in it ;]
