Bimbo Carmona is without a doubt the puertorrican version of Kobe Bryant, the dude is just a killer shooter, rebounder, you name it.

I don't think that cut was smart at all. Bimbo is a 6'4 shooting guard, who was this year's MVP in the all star game after scoring 20 points in 16 minutes and was heralded as one of the best defensive players all season. His explosive offense is really gonna hurt us against other teams, on the other hand, we got Angel "Buster" Figueroa and Carmelo Lee, wich can be considered as replacements for Bimbo, but for god's sake, man, we really needed that guy. Oh, well, we'll see what happens.

If i'm not mistaken, he's on standby for the Central American and Caribbean Games roster, along with the following players: Gabriel Colon, David Huertas, Hector Valenzuela, Alex Falcon and Luis Villafañe. Bimbo was the second lead scorer against the Dominicans on the exhibition games for christ's sake.

Bimbo Carmona and Buster Figueroa are almost the same kind of players. Both are lead scorers on their respective teams in the BSN, and both have the same height. Thing is, Buster is a small forward and Bimbo is a shooting guard, he's been one all of his life, but the national team wanted him to play small forward, and looks like that didn't work out too well for him.

Dont forget the old timers, like Wes Correa, Mario Butler, Fico Lopoz, Picolean Ortiz, Jerome Mincey, Munch, Edwin P., etc.

They layed the foundation for you guys, PR wasn't even on the map yet before these guys came around in the 80's and kicked butt all over South America.

PUR – BSN dedicates 2010 season to Jenaro Marchand

SAN JUAN (Baloncesto Superior Nacional) – Baloncesto Superior Nacional (BSN) of Puerto Rico announced in their press conference that the 2010 BSN season will be dedicated to FIBA Americas Secretary General Emeritus Jenaro ‘Tuto’ Marchand.

The regular season tips off Thursday with Atleticos de San German visiting defending champions Vaqueros de Bayamón.

Marchand served as President of the Puerto Rican Basketball Federation and of FIBA Americas and was also Secretary General and Vice-President of FIBA.

His association with the BSN has seen him involved in just about every facet of the league as he was a player, referee and coach.

“I led this institution from 1978 until 1987. Some say that I was there for 50 years, I was only (there) for nine,” Marchand said during the press conference.

“I have been in basketball, especially with FIBA, in different positions. They have given me many recognitions and I have a room full of them, but one was missing.

“The organisation that has made me more proud is this one. I am honoured, thank you," he added.

The 10 teams that will participate in the 2010 BSN season are: Atléticos de San Germán, Cangrejeros de Santurce, Capitanes de Arecibo, Gallitos de Isabela, Indios de Mayagüez, Leones de Ponce, Mets de Guaynabo, Piratas de Quebradillas and Vaqueros de Bayamón.

The regular season consists of 20 games, with the eight best sides qualifying for the playoffs. The qualified teams face each other in the quarter-finals which use a seeded system (1 vs 8; 2 vs 7; 3 vs 6; 4 vs. 5) and are played in best-of-five games series. The semi-finals and finals use the best-of-seven format.

    Bayamon win pre-season tournament

Vaqueros de Bayamon defeated Caciques de Humacao 71-65 to win the BSN pre-season tournament.

Christian Dalmau scored 22 points and Carmelo Antrone Lee added 20 to lead the way for Vaqueros.

Jose Guitian had 18 points for Caciques and William Orozco chipped in with 10.

In a game played before the final, Mets de Guaynabo edged out Leones de Ponce 85-83 behind some balanced scoring. Carlos Escalera had a team-best 23 points, Marcus Fizer added 17 while Angel Figueroa and Antoine Walker finished with 13 each.

Leones were led by DerMarr Johnson who had a game-high 34 points. Bobby Joe Hatton followed with 17, Gabriel Colón and Manuel Narvaez had 11 and 10 respectively.
