Adelaide 36ers star Brad Newley made his summer league debut for the Houston Rockets on Tuesday night, helping his new NBA team to a first-up victory over the Los Angeles Clippers, 90-76.

Playing in Las Vegas before a crowd that included a bevvy of NBA coaches, Newley made a modest start to his NBA career. He failed to score in just under thirteen minutes of play, going 0-of-2 from the field, but did dish out three assists and grab four rebounds.

Newley, who was chosen by the Rockets with the 54th pick of the 2007 NBA Draft in June, also had one steal and committed two turnovers and one personal foul in his role off the bench.

The Rockets’ next game will be on Thursday against Western Conference powerhouse, the Dallas Mavericks.
