Happy birthday to Darko! At 23 he still has his chances to do well despite all, I hope he'll show soon (especially during the Euro qualifications against Italy) what he's able to do.

23? Wow, it seems like just yesterday he was 18.

At this point in his career, I would say that Darko is an average starting NBA PF. He's not terrible and he's not great. Pretty good defense, OK offense.

I agree but there is a problem: Darko's offense last season consisted mainly in the same left handed baby hook which didn't fall in with great results (43% from the field isn't that good for a big man) but the NT's Darko I've seen last two summers was totally different because he showed many other moves near the basket and a really dangerous 3pt shooting with the result that he was always one of the top scorers in his team (about 15ppg almost every game). So I think he has still his chance to become a solid starter who brings tough defense if he doesn't fall in foul trouble like in some games and an average offense if only regains some confidence in doing all the stuff he's able to do. Some people think he should lose some pounds to return a bit faster so that he can play face to the basket like when he was younger but imho it's too risky, it's better if he focuses in improving his skills with his actual body, because I've seen him facing the basket against Shaq and beating him with a fast drive after a jab step so he still can do that even if a little slower and bigger.

Did he finally realise he won't make it in the NBA? Wasn't he who wanted a star role in the Magic and Grizzlies? He could at least be honest and say he can't improve his game in the NBA and be a decisive player there.

Oh, stop picking on Darko, Rik. The kid has had some problems, sure, but a lot of the problems weren't his fault.

He's still a better center (statistically) than some of the other "good" NBA big men, like Ben Wallace, Kwame Brown, Etan Thomas, and Glen Davis.

Although, honestly, looking at my comment about Darko from earlier this year (three posts up), I must say that I was being very generous.

No, he probably won't become a star at this point, but he's at least a serviceable NBA player.

Darko Milicics torn jersey from Grizz v. Rockets win to go on online auction block

MEMPHIS, December 9, 2008 When the Memphis Grizzlies said that they were going to provide fans with the opportunity to bid on one-of-a-kind team memorabilia as part of their Online Auction Series, they werent kidding. On the auction block starting December 11 at 9 a.m. is the game worn jersey that Darko Milicic ripped in last nights 109-97 win over the Houston Rockets.
Darko Milicic did his best Incredible Hulk impersonation during the third quarter of the Grizzlies second consecutive home victory last night. The remnants of the jersey, which include a rip down the center that is more than a foot and a half long, will include a personalized autograph from Milicic addressed to the highest bidder.

All proceeds from the online auction benefit the Memphis Grizzlies House at St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital. Grizzlies House has the capacity to serve up to 100 families each night and provides a free, safe and comfortable alternative to staying in a hotel.

Along with Milicics ripped game-worn jersey, fans can also bid on the opportunity to sit in Grizzlies majority owner Michael Heisleys courtside seats or have their child be an Honorary Ball Kid on December 30 when Shaquille ONeal and the Phoenix Suns come to FedExForum.

Anybody remember Darko Milicic? He scored a season-high 15 points (6-7) along with 10 rebounds in an 18 point loss to Utah last night.

He is no longer wearing the glove on his hand which protected it after he missed all of January with a broken hand.

Miličić vs Utah Jazz scored 15pts(FG 6-7) and rebounded 10 times for double-double. He also added 3 assists. Unfortunately, his team lost 117-99.

Duan Ivković confirms Miličić's european plans

Head coach of Serbia National Team, Dusan Ivkovic spoke to the official FIBA website and explained why Darko Milicic(2.13-C) is not in the selection of the national team of Serbia and he confirms Milicic's plans to play in Europe. Below is an extract from his interview:

Milicic won't be in Poland, either.

"Darko is at an important point of his life," Ivkovic said.

"His main attributes are grit and victorious spirit, and he explained to me that he has lost that since he played in team which is not among the best in NBA.
"Milicic wants to re-gain that spirit by playing in Europe. He's still in doubt whether or not to return. Also, he's got a wedding coming up, on May 23, and after that he'll become a father.

"He wouldn't be fully concentrated on the national team, and that was the reason he was left.
"But, of course, I really hope we'll have a good time at his wedding party in Novi Sad."

This does not look good. During preseason and in the initial game of regular season Milicic has been averaging fairly below 20mpg in most instances.

Even though NYK head coach D'Antoni made other promises when acquiring Milicic, things have moved in a different manner.

It is fairly surprising that 2,06 PF David Lee is preferred over Milicic who is both taller, better defensively and stronger than Lee is. And after Curry recuperates from injury, Milicic might even experience less playing time.

Unless he gets at least 25mpg within the next 10 matches, he should change club address and move to Nets, Timberwolves, Kings etc where he will be assured a starting position.

I find his carrer circumstances very sad and unlucky because he still has great potential to finally prove.

    Ajde Darko!

Default Darko to get a buyout from Knicks?

    http://www.interbasket.net/news/2010...-new-york-nba/

(Darko) was conspicuously missing from Thursday nights game against the Bobcats. The 7-footer has become such an afterthought that the Knicks did not even bother to reveal that he did not show up for work.

Milicics agent, Marc Cornstein, confirmed that his client was missing due to personal reasons and said that Milicic would rejoin the team today.

Where Darko ends up depends on Maric.
