Yeah, they probably weren't that strict on this issue during those times.
Seikaly did play in 1999 and not 2001 (I mixed up the years). I watched all the games for the Lebanese team in the "Madina Al Riyadieh" and i was able to have a few words with Seikaly and get his autograph .

these 6 names are nothing guys,we have around 200 players outside lebanon.
We need to bring at least 6 or 7 to Lebanon, some are really effective and the tallest especially.
We have to keep an eye on the twins Tabet (206-F/C-87) as future prospects on pos 4/5, bringing Adriano Machada is very important, since he has a lot of international experience, hes playing as a foreign player in Chile. Also Jean Paul afif is really a goot fit !!!

and the big dream is to bring Matt freije and Antwain barbour, both will chance the structure in asia im sure.
Theres many players to watch,i hope the federation will give this subject an opportunity.

Yeah but not all 200 are great (It's not just about the quantity, it's about the quality )
Imo I think that there are like 20-25 decent Lebanese playing abroad or from Lebanese origin that can be really helpful for the Lebanese NT+Lebanese league whom should be contacted (I don't think players like Freije or Barbour will play in the Lebanese League since they are making much more money than can be offered for them here, but we should at least try to see if they are willing to play for the Lebanese NT).

I agree. Let's hope at least that they care about playing in Lebanon.

in the world cup the didnt let 3 players from algerian team to play with their nt because they played in the frensh under 18 team. the rule is still a rule.
camoranesi cant play for argentina, podolski cant play for poland, hargreeves cant play for canada.........

having some of those players can really help but we cant count on them they dont care about lebanon and they wont play from their heart.
you can see pau gasol how he played or yao trying to avoid physical contact, these players will care about money and wont fight for a game.

every coach want to make his son jordan that s bad.

we have problems of developping new lebanese players.

im sick of the way our basketball is going too a lot of chefs wont make us eat food.

hehhe ur lucky man, i was young back then
i remember watching it on tv

seikaly scored when ever he wanted it even if he was trible teamed and when he liked he would pass the ball outside to elie, fadi we walid and they would hit it from outside. it was the easiest tournament

Man Seikaly was the highlight of the whole tournament . I remember even the Syrian players were waiting in line to take pictures with him and asking him for autograph
(The team we had back then was not bad with guys like Mchantaf, Khatib, Domiaty, Yaser El Haj, Ghazi Boustani, Abdo Chidiac, Jassem Kanso, Elie Nasr)

i know our team wasnt bad but having a great center like seikaly who have plenty of moves he can do near the basket and can pass when doubled...
this is a great advantage that we lacked since then

Thanks for the pic! Yeah that was the 1999 team.
I can't remember why Khatib wasn't on the team. He was already one of the best players with Sagesse back then (I think he might have been injured if i'm not mistaken).
The players in the picture from left to right:
Standing Up: Mark Kozah, Elie Nasr, Rony Seikaly, Elie Mchantaf, Jassem Kanso, Vicken Eskejian, Yasser El Hage, Ghazi Boustani
Sitting on Floor: Dany Hamouche, Rony Fahed (I think he was like 18 back then), Walid Domiaty, and Abdo Chidiak.

yes i remember that seikaly played only 1 quarter against syria he was injured. Then he played the last quarter against iran.
In asia 99 without seikaly we beat syria by 1pt 7th/8th position.
