Lithuanians are very sensitive. If only they knew how many times greek names are being mispelt. I've seen Papadopoulos being spelt 100 different ways.

in the U-20 thread I spotted two mistakes in Latvia's player's surnames.

    Not Jermonovas but Jeromanovs
    Not Carvas (!) but Čavars

Some people think that just like in lithuanian many latvian words have ending -as (I spotted in BBL league away games lithuanians spelled- Skirmantas, Veselovas). But in latvian games there are problems with lithuanian names and surnames- Zidruns Urbons, Giedrus Gusts (I think that's because in our language names and surnames of people from other countries are also spelled and written in latvian- so we have to check Google if we want to write the name or surname in english.)

Latvian names and surnames usually ends with - ts, -ns, -cs, -rs and so on and many surnames (like mine) ends with -is or -e at the end (Kalve) but rarely (and usually these people are lithuanian or used to be some time ago) it's - as, or -ius.

And also- but it's understandable cause most of the foreign people don't have these in their language names like Mārtiņš are written like Martins or sth but in latvian Mārtiņš and Martins are two different names.

    Interesting
Martins is a common Portuguese surname btw, funny to know that Latvian has a similar one.

It's just the shorter version of his surname - Macijauskas and we used to call him like that in Lithuania, and Maces prononsation is different and makes no sence...

the -as ending is also rather typical: Sabas, Saras, Macas. Never heard of any -es

Whoa, remove the plank in thine own eye, ungrammatical man . . . time to start the bad grammar thread! People spell badly. When does basketball start so we can stop talking about this?
