Two unbelievable results, especially Senegal. The only team that remains unblurred is Angola for now.

its not so unbelievable that Senegal lost. Their PG Babacar Cisse is injured, cant play anymore. He is leading in assists. Pene and Mbengue are anything else but capable to provide good PG play. Pene played in National 2 in France. Mbengue is still learning the game. Senegal wont advance, thats for sure.

yes and that's becz Angola have the biggest experience and the best bench till now. with Senegal's PG out one of the best teams in the competition might not be able to compete no more too bad

Both Senegal and Cameroon are fading, I no-one will stop Angola this year either.

Yep, Senefal was my biggest hope but without Cisse it seems unlikely they even reach the semifinals.

@Stuart: Cameroon's loss is not a shocker to me as the team did prepare in Cameroon without playing any tests against equal opponents. Adingono was suppose to lead the team but could not join them due to some personal issues, so Joe Touomou took over for him. With all this in mind, their performance so far has been great.

Tunisia is a tough opponent who did prepare professionally and should be now taking seriously by the other remaining title contenders. These guys won the Arab Cup and are playing together for years like the Angolans.

Hello, Mojado. it would be interesting to know the source of information, where you so quickly take the news of injuries. africabasket.com and the official site aren't so quickly. also this site have a little information about injuries and the events taking place not in game time. or maybe you are now in Libya?
and do you know in what form is B.Cisse /Sen/? from your last post didn't understand - he left before the end of the championship, or just in the game with Morocco was absent? with best regards from Russia .

I'm not in Libya, wish I could be there now cuz it looks really like a great tournament so far.
Lets say I got my sources...
Cisse could be back in the next game...its a waiting game now for him, has some problems with his thigh.

BTW: Rodrigue M'baye , head coach of the Central African Republic stepped down after the 75-76 loss to Tunisia. He citied to be harrassed by the president of the federation and decided to leave. Now Eugene Pehoua, his assistant took over the team. The side-effect: His son Junior Pehoua played 32 minutes against Rwanda

Cisse is according to him, listed as day-to-day...so who knows if and when he is going to play.

Cisse is averaging 6.2 assists and that's with playing only 12 minutes against Rwanda, the game he was injured in. He seems to be the all-important facilitator for Senegal.

They are the runner-ups from the 2007 tournament, but Cameroon is also missing an important player from that squad, Luc Mbah a Moute. Mbah a Moute does a little of everything for Cameroon, much as Kirilenko does for Russia. Plus CMR got matched up in the same group with Senegal in the prelims.

I'd personaly like to see Senegal and Cameroon qualify for WC (along with Angola) as I think those are the teams that can do the most damage with a full strenght squad in the World Championship, I guess you could argue Nigeria depending on how many US-based players would like the suit up.
