I also once bought a diamond back terrapin from the Chinese food market to keep. Pretty big turtle but I had some problems getting it to eat. (I tried to force-feed but it bit me and broke skin.) Unfortunately it died soon in an accident -- they tell me it needs exposure to sunlight for Vitamin D synthesis, so I put it in a big box on the balcony. I didn't realize what a good climber it was, and it got out of the box and fell from the balcony. I eventually donated its body to a museum. (But being Chinese perhaps I should have dissected it and made a soup...)

Cool. But does your cat make strange noises whenever it feels stressed like this one?

No but he makes sounds like this when he sees birds from the window

I wonder what it is because it seems like a lot of cats do that. But I never seen him do that outside.

What about the other half? Does it belong to the proud Aspin bloodline?

I've seen a lot of dog breeds, but if I needed to get a dog, I'll probably choose a doxie-pin (hybrid between dachshund and miniature pinscher). For me the biggest problems with dogs is hair. I can't imagine having dogs that shed long threads on your bed every day, get tangled-up hair (most often with dried-up shit) in the ass, or require going to a groomer every 2 weeks.

What do you feed them with, regular fish food?

Definitely not that. I honestly don't remember feeding them anything. I changed their water every once a while when their water gets a little dirty with fish poop, and that seems to do the trick. They lived at least a couple years, I'm sure of that.

Of course, tap water in China has all kinds of stuff (dirt = nutrients) in it, you know...

Actually come to think of it, I believe the pebble stones in the bowl had a greenish algae layer on top of them (can be washed off but will return) and I think they were living off that.

They remind me of my pet Hypostomus plecostomus (Janitor fish). Doesn't need that much maintenance in fact they thrive in nearly filthy water. But unfortunately for the local ecology over here, they are one of the primary reasons why native fresh water fish stocks are steadily depleting.

When I was a kid, my family had a dog. She lived for almost 15 years before we "put her down." She was what we call a "mutt," or a mixed race dog.
"I really like the attitudes of eagles. They never give up. When they grab a fish or something else, they never let it go. It doesn't matter. In a book, they write they find a skeleton of [an] eagle and there is no fish. It means that the fish beat him and killed him, but he didn't let go." -- Donatas Motiejunas

(Turns out that you shouldn't keep the mother with her offspring since there is a high chance that they will fight and might kill each other).
Well hamsters are rodents. I know rats/mice engage in incestuous activities all the time. However rarely do females participate in fights. I guess hamsters are different then.

When I was young in China I had once kept 2 duck(ling)s (also from food market) as well. In a huge laundry container on the balcony. The entire balcony smelled to high heaven. But for some reason they didn't last long. I remembered that they died on the same day, maybe after a week.

I have a little Westie (West Highland White Terrier), just like "Maggie" in the Caesar commercials.

He belongs to who was my roommate until a few months ago. I visited him 3 times since then, but I miss him

Here he was tried a bit, after 3AM, and firstly didn't show any will to play, but after I went to my room he took his toy and came to me to play (I took the camera because I heard him coming to me, but I thought he want to get to my bed, not to play ):

I filmed this one at the day I was moving from the apartment. Here he is more energetic:
