    Default Basketball Player Obama

I came across this photo of Obama with his high school basketball team.

One more reason to support Obama if you are into basketball and you have the right to vote....

Any basketball player deserves our support (as a basketball site). Other things equal, we go for the basketballer.

So the equation Basketball = President is correct analogy for a basketball site, as it shows to us followers of basketball that the man makes the right choice, plus that he has impeccable good taste and simply knows what he is talking about and knows what's the best and what is not. It also means he can make a split of a second right decisions just like in a basketball game. These are huge qualities for supporting

Had Obama chosen Americam football I wouldn't support him as it is an indication he likes to cripple his opponents... I don't like American football at all.

Had Obama chosen baseball, I wouldn't support him because he prefers to watch grass grow. I detest baseball. So when we have a crisis, he will do nothing and watch the grass grow just like in baseball games? No sir... We need an active president that seeks to get higher and alleviate us with him with inspiration, exactly as in basketball.

Basketball is based on the principle of "fair play", so the guy is a "fair player" with friends and opponents and the public. That's something to consider. He doesn't go for low blows, which is cheap.

Plus as an American, he picked a sport designed by a Canadian. Anybody supporting Canada and its inventions, we support...

    --

Now we realize Palin is a basketball player as well. So we have TWO out of the four with basketball experience. That's great.

I'll change my mind to a McCain/Palin ticket as soon as McCain starts playing basketball. LOL

But its good that I don't vote in the States. But if you really want to know how this "Canadian" thinks, my absolute favorite was and still and will be Ron Paul (basketball or no basketball). He is the ONLY one that was intelligent and made sense to me. The one with the most insight, the one with the most integrity. Suffice to say he was one of very few who voted against the war in Iraq (he was right).. He is the one who advocates stopping all military aid immediately to all Middle East and immediate withdrawal from all areas militarily, because it is counter-productive. No North Korea or adventure in Iran bs.. and empty rhetoric which will only make things worse and deepen the economic crisis, partly a result of Bush ill-advised foriegn policy and interventions that have cost the States what it is in right now. Good riddance... Bush will be proven as one of the worst presidents US had ever had. McCain will lose because he doesn't see this and wants to continue Bush's shameful legacy.
Ron Paul is brilliant and makes absolute sense to me. Ron Paul for president. Absolutely! You want US with integrity and strength, a true leader for a great nation, you go for Ron Paul.

Apparently President Obama is a die-hard Bulls fan.
He attended the Bulls-Wizards game from the front row.

Default Obama picks Lakers to win NBA Title

"Obama picks Lakers to win NBA

WASHINGTON (AP) - OK, Mr. President, let's see how you do picking the pro game.

Barack Obama was on his way to the Marine One helicopter on the South Lawn on Tuesday when a reporter shouted a question. The topic: Who is going to win the NBA championship, the Los Angeles Lakers or the Orlando Magic?

Said the smiling president: "Lakers in six, I think." The series begins Thursday.

So far so good this year for Obama. A huge basketball fan, he correctly predicted that that the University of North Carolina men's basketball team would win the NCAA championship.

Obama was leaving Tuesday for an overnight trip to the Middle East".

Default Kobe vs. MJ: Obama weighs in on great debate

    "WASHINGTON (AP) - Sorry, Kobe.

President Barack Obama was asked straight out on Thursday: Kobe or Michael?

As in, who's the best? Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant, a four-time NBA champion? Or the basketball legend to whom he is most often compared, Michael Jordan, who retired as a six-time champ with the Chicago Bulls and is widely regarded as the best player of all time?

"Oh, Michael," Obama answered in an interview with The Associated Press.

"I mean, Kobe's terrific. Don't get me wrong," Obama said. "But I haven't seen anybody match up with Jordan yet."

Obama, a basketball fan who hails from Chicago, is certainly no Lakers hater.

He picked Bryant's team to defeat the Orlando Magic in the finals this year, and he was right".

He may be in the White House in Washington D.C but he really loves his Bulls.

"He truly is a die-hard Bulls fan,'' Butler said. "Hopefully we can convert him a little bit.'' (3rd paragraph from the link below)

"We all know that he's from Chicago. That's the only reason why he's here tonight. I have no problem with that,'' Jamison said. "You can't convert him overnight. Eventually - he's here for four or eight years - we can be his second-favorite team.'' (7th paragraph from the bottom of the page)

Obama honors Mutombo for deeds in native Congo

    Posted Jan 19 2010 12:26AM

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Former pro basketball star Dikembe Mutombo stressed the importance of an education as he was honored Monday with an award for improving lives in his native Congo.

Mutombo said he sold fruit and vegetables for about $1 a day in order to pay his school fee in Congo. He briefly studied medicine at Georgetown University before his basketball talents were discovered. He graduated from the university with dual degrees in linguistics and diplomacy.

His alma mater presented him with the Coach John Thompson Jr. Legacy of a Dream Award during an annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

"You never know what direction your life will take you or ... what road you will travel, but your chances of success are certainly greater with an education than without one," Mutombo said as he accepted the award.

Mutombo's namesake foundation has worked to combat childhood diseases in Congo. It also opened a hospital in Kinshasa, which has served more than 25,000 patients.

President Barack Obama praised Mutombo for giving back to his nation's people and honoring King's legacy of service.

Obama said the 18-year NBA veteran was attacking problems in Africa in "with the same ferocity with which he used to block shots in the NBA."

Mutombo played for six NBA teams, was the league's top defensive player four times and was selected for eight All-Star games during his career.
    Nice gesture by President Obama

    Obama as college hoops analyst

Posted: Saturday, January 30, 2010 2:30 PM by Domenico Montanaro

President Obama made an appearance as a third CBS commentator at the Georgetown-Duke men's college basketball game here at the Verizon Center.

The president looked like he was having fun, joked that he was coming after Clark Kellogg's job and about his appearance at the House Republican Conference on Friday.

After showing the 2008 footage of Obama playing with the eventual National Champion North Carolina Tar Heels, CBS play-by-play man Verne Lundquist asked, "Mr. President, you're a left-hander, do you have any trouble going to your right?"

Recognizing the double entendre in the question, Obama said (loosely based on quick notes): "I can go to my right now and then. I went to the House Republican caucus the other day. But there’s no doubt I have a stronger left hand."

    No doubt.

Pundits pondered what George W. Bush might do post-presidency. One prevailing idea is that it wouldn't be shocking if he became commissioner of Major League Baseball, considering his former part ownership of the Texas Rangers and his all-around love of sports. (Anyone who watched the Dallas Cowboys in the playoffs saw him sitting in owner Jerry Jones' box and exchanging an elongated, adapted version of a hybrid high five and hand shake.)

Obama gave some hint as to what he might do post-presidency.

"After retirement I'm coming after your job," said a smiling Obama, headphones on, to Clark Kellogg, who Obama lauded as the best color commentator in college basketball. "You’ve either got three more years or seven, so you should make plans … because I’m going to do some play by play."

Obama got a small tryout. Lundquist asked if he'd like to try the replay of after a score by the Hoyas' star center Greg Monroe.

"This was a terrific spin move, and he didn’t get any help coming back," Obama said.

Not bad, Lundquist and Kellogg conceded.
By the way, for all the Duke haters, Obama left with just over a minute to go -- with Georgetown up 87-70. Lundquist called it a new statistic, that when the president leaves, it's officially over.
