- at least Norman Black understands that for a certain player to improve is for him to play in a better competition. That shows that Norman is a great player/guy that sacrifices his own success for the good of a certain player.Originally Posted by trigun_08

We would again call on the Fil-Foreign players based in North America to take note of the announcement below. For the other Forumers who have contacts in North America who are talented basketball players who are worth considering, do appreciate you relay to them the info below.
A letter from Mr. Caloy Allado:
Sir:
We are writing you in behalf of the BAP-Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas Inc., the governing basketball body of the Philippines. The BAP-SBP has embarked on a program for the next four years to regain our basketball supremacy in Asia.
As a result, we are staging a Fil-Am All Star camp scheduled sometime in April 2009 to be held in Las Vegas, Nevada. We will be having two categories:
a. Senior Level (19-26 yrs old with college ball experience)
b. Junior Level (15-18 yrs old with high school ball experience)
The final number of teams will be determined on the number of players that will be nominated.
The purpose of the Fil-Am camp is to identify potential members for the Philippine national team that will compete in the Asian Games in 2010, Qualifiying Tournament leading to 2012 London Olympics and other international tournaments in the next four years. The national coach and his staff will be present in the camp.
We would appreciate your assistance in spreading the news to your members/players and hopefully you could nominate players to this camp.
For further information, please call or email me.
Sincerely,
Caloy Allado

Nardy, I thought it's a long-term program. How come Caloy is only talking about "a program for the next four years"? What happens after 2012?Originally Posted by nardy

Yes it stated by Caloy that:Originally Posted by moonraker

Countries usually sets their sporting programs insync with the Olympics which is held every four years. The purpose of the Fil-Am camp is to identify potential members for the Philippine national team that will compete in the Asian Games in 2010, Qualifiying Tournament leading to 2012 London Olympics and other international tournaments in the next four years. Even in corporations we rarely do a program more than 4 years anymore since what was implemented a few years earlier could already be obsolete in just a year or so. For example when this long-term program was being conceptualized about a year ago, we did not take into account the possible merger of FIBA-Asia and FIBA-Oceania which was announced a few months ago to be under consideration. Just this month there are already talk that if ever the said Asia-Pacific merger would push thru, it would still be split into 2 groups (West Asia-Pacific and East Asia-Pacific). So we could see many changes come 2012 even if the 2 National Teams for 2009 and 2011 become successfull or not.
As of now, at least we have programs in place. We are opening doors to full-blooded or half-blooded Filipinos that are based overseas a chance to be included in the National Training Pool. This was not the case in the past, so we are hoping you give these programs a chance. For it to work, we need all the support that we can get.
After 2012 the members of the pool would have undergone an extensive training under Serbian Rajko Toroman, would have travelled to different parts of the globe while playing for the flag and attending different basketball camps plus they would have already been rewarded the financial package promised by MVP. From there that is a nice foundation wherein the players would have come 2012.
The 25 players initially selected is not the final list of the whole pool. That is subject to change as more players are to be added. If there are other players like those to be found overseas does deserve to be included, they would be added or could be replacements for those earlier selected but have to go for various of reasons.
Even the 14 players selected by Coach Yeng Guiao for the short term program is just the initial list. In reality all the players in the PBA are all part of the whole pool where Coach Guiao can select for the National Team. This was actually the same set-up as in the 2007 FIBA-Asia team of Coach Chot Reyes.

Actually I have full trust on whatever plans or programs of Manny V Pangilinan. If you are familiar on how SMART started, you'll know why he is a genius.
Other telecoms people were laughing then at SMART as the other companies were already getting consumers to buy their cellphones while SMART was going to different remote parts of the Philippines setting-up cell-sites. They were saying the people out there don't even use a phone. But due to the forward thinking of MVP and his people, they envisioned that setting-up the infrastructure first is more important than getting a fast buck. Along the way SMART bought PLDT which is on the red that time, people again were surprised about that move by MVP and said it was a suicide. What people did not see is that SMART would be using PLDT in order to take SMART further into the market. And in no time, SMART soon ate up the market and some of their competitors had closed shop while SMART became the market leader.
Yeah, bro Nardy. MVP has the vision, indeed. Let's wish him and his people at the SBP MUCH SUCCESS.
I don't know if it is true but rumors that Japeth is already engaged to Jessica...I'm wondering, Will Japeth still pursue his basketball career or stay in the US with his fiance?
If indeed Japeth is getting married, I see him coming home to earn a living either in the PBA or thru the National Team of the SBP. So far he has nothing much to show for the US scouts to recommend him in the NBA or a minor league team. Or worst he would just get an ordinary job in the US outside basketball. By the way, what is the course is Japeth taking-up there in WKU?
by the way alex15, is Ray joking or is it really true that he is now married?
