would you agree that we, Filipino NT, will win a slot in FIBA via SEABA?..
me?, yes i do believe so
but for the FIBA tournament, i have doubts if the Philippine NT will even reach the quarter finals,..
china, lebanon, kazakhstan, and iran, where would Philippines be?
after all the arguments about aguilar, giles and lutz, this is the rationale..
this is just my opinion anyway. don't mind me.
but i am challenging the poweraide NT, after all that have been said about the smart gilas and how unexperienced they are but still manage to shake the defense of other asian NT, it's the poweraide team's time show what they are made of..

three Serbs among the contenders Dragan Racca (Lebanon), Veselin Matic (Iran) and Rajko Toroman (Philippines)
for the record, nobody thought iran was going to win the 2007 fiba asia but they did. our team during that time had everything... one million dollar budget, all the best trainings, preparations, tune up games etc, but look at what happened. this time we have a team that was created last november, has only a once to twice a week of practice, only few tune up games, but composed of 8 former members of the 2007 team including the reserves. i still have faith in this team no matter what. until we see the final groupings of all the participating teams and the progress of our team right after the pba season, we can never tell. let's just remain positive... let's hope and pray that the groupings will favor us this time. i hope this time those teams that were grouped in a weaker group last fiba asia will now be put in a tough group. as of now, i can say china is the only team that is assured of qualifying to wbc while the 2 remaining slots are still up for grabs...
"its not only how long the preparation is and how many tune games that are played that matters, its also the experience of the players in playing in international games and luck with regards to the groupings." hope this time we'll get lucky with the draw... goodluck to team pilipinas!

Why worry about the Group of Death ? so we can have a better chance in advancing to the second round ?
If you truly believe that the Philppines is one of the title contenders, does it really matter who they're going to face, I'd rather say just bring it on and have them fear -the Angel of Death in Team Pilippines, sounds good ?.......![]()

not only second round but succeeding rounds too... what im talking here is the probabilities or the chances... in 2007 did you really think that rp was only good for 9th place? or lebanon was really good for second place? for the record, our 2007 team was one of the most prepared teams we have and when we were grouped in the group of death some people were saying 'bring it on', even me i was saying 'if you want to be the best you gotta beat the best' and then boom look at what happened... opposite the case of the 2007 team of lebanon. did you know that that team was only formed like 2 months before the fiba-asia and they have to do it with a new coach? but what happened was they were grouped in a weaker group where in their first few games they had the luxury of resting khatib and other key players to prepare them for round 2 and then look they finished second, though the other reason why they finished 2nd was the experience of the team in playing in international competitions...
my point here is its better to face tough teams in the succeeding rounds not in the first round. what if we were grouped like let's say with iran, jordan, japan/qatar or china kazakhztan, japan/qatar... its better to worry some of these teams in the succeeding rounds...
