    Default Will Pau Gasol make All-NBA in 2008-09?

    With the Lakers on top of the NBA, and Pau Gasol playing the Scottie Pippen to Kobe's Michael Jordan... if the Lakers continue their winning ways, will the 7-0 Spaniard get his dues as an All-NBA selection even though his stats are just a little better than his career averages?

    Gasol is averaging 18.3 points, 9.4 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and barely a block a game (0.9)? Gasol most likely won't be all-NBA with the likes of LeBron James, Tim Duncan, and Kevin Garnett... but he is certainly in the discussion for second team with players like Dirk Nowitzki (25.9), Paul Pierce (20.0), Kevin Durant (25.5), and Danny Granger (25.4)... would it be a travesty if he didn't make the third team?

    It's a possibility that he'll make it in the 2nd all NBA team but 3rd all NBA is the safest bet. KG made it to 1st all NBA last season even though his numbers were much less than Amare Stoudemire's stats. It's the intangibles that make Pau a very likely candidate.

    I agree with TrueBluePinoy. Pau's numbers are great, but his intangibles are more important (I think it's the same with Kobe as well...Kobe seems to have great companionship with his teammates, which is so important). I think KG will unfairly get the first team call at PF, which should be for Dirk and give the second team PF position to Pau. Unfortunately, I think Pau will be given the third team.

    I'm optimistic after his triple double last night so I voted All-NBA second team (I'm also taking into consideration that the Lakers are currently in 1st place)

    To many good PFs in the league for him to make first or second. TD, KG, Dirk, Bosh... Kwame Brown...

    Look ya'll
    LeBron James, Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett, Dirk Nowitzki, Paul Pierce, Kevin Durant, Danny Granger, chris bosh, Amare stoudemire, Paul Millsap, David West, Andre Iguodala, Rashard Lewis and charlie Villanueva hav' all got a heckuva year and they're all happen to be fowards as well, so think He'll b lucky if he even get som' votes for the third team.

    probably the all-nba teams'll look somthing like this:

    (Only Fowards)

    First team:
    -The King (DUH !!!!!!!)
    - the second spot should b for Dirk but ya'll know those guys are biased 'bout Kevin Garnett

    second:
    - if Dirk doesn't get voted to the first team, he'll probably get this one. but if he does make the first then this spot will be for Garnett
    - Duncan or Amare or Danny Granger or Pierce or Durant or who knows;; John Salmon any1 (hehe Just kidding)

    Third
    -the same ecuation here: Duncan or Amare or Danny Granger or Pierce or Durant or who knows;
    -and here: Duncan or Amare or Danny Granger or Pierce or Durant or who knows;

    now my picks will be like this:
    1st: The King and Dirk
    2nd: Duncan and Garnett/Pierce (for a tie)
    3rd: Amare and Granger/Durant (Know I like ties)

    It's going to be tough for sure.

    I know Gasol isn't averaging Durant's or Granger's scoring totals, but as with the all-star voting (coaches), voters put a premium on winning and Gasol is no doubt a huge reason why the Lakers are #1 in the NBA.

    In a same way that Garnett is going to make All-NBA for the Celtics with 16.4 points, 8.9 rebounds, 2.7 asts, 1.2 blks, and 1.2 stls, is the way that Gasol will make it for the Lakers (18.3, 9.6, and 3.6).

    After Lebron, KG, Duncan, Nowitzki... I think it will be between four players for the third team: Gasol, Carmelo Anthony, Kevin Durant, and Paul Pierce with apologies to David West.

    If Gasol can get up to 18 and 10, he'll be a lock, funny how 0.4 more rebounds makes a huge difference.

    no doubt it abt, gasol has improved the lakers a lot.
    he can score, rebound, pass, block, play inside, shoot the midrange shot as good as anyone in the league, he is too skilled to be a PF. and we got that for kwammmeeeeeee brown, how ironic

    All NBA teams don't go by position. People think they do but they don't. You simply have to vote for whatever player you designate at the position. In other words, a voter can vote Pau as a PF or a C. It is up to them.

    That means 6 places are open up for him because there are 3 openings at each position. I would say he will make it for sure if he stays healthy.

    Guess he has been playing Centre since Bynum went down. Still, he'll have Yao and Shaq ahead of him. Don't get me wrong, he's been having a better season than Shaq, but I bet the voters will get all caught up in Shaq resurrecting his career!

    I think you're right. Shaq's "resurrection," as you said, is great for people because he's always so much fun for the media, and the media gives him all the attention that he wants. Even if Biedrins, Gasol, Yao, Howard, and Duncan are having better seasons.

    PS - Stig, I just registered for your Sports Gorilla site. It's a lot of fun to read some of the articles you've got there! Very cool site.
