This is a great list. Of course these are not all greek words that derive from turkish, there are many turkish that derive from greek in the list. Some of the greek that derive from turkish ones are not used anymore (or i haven't heard of them), and due to the different alphabet some greek words are pronounced differently than the latin alphabet transliteration suggests. Still a great list though.

sure there is mutual effect between these languages. i was once in a festival with Greeks, and when we didn't know the english name of the thing(usually food) we just started to call them in our language and it was so amazing to understand eachother suddenly! i can say that there are some similarities grammatically too..

I always said that 'dolma' was the most important Turkish-Greek word. Even if you don't understand a fuck what the other says, you just eat a dolma and everything is good.

Dolma is a great food, you probably know it comes from a verb -dolma means to fill or be filled.
but what made me surprised most is that you have also imam-bayildi. you have even a great band called imam-baildi who gave a concert in istanbul early this year.

Wow! I didn't even imagine how many similar words we have with Turkish. Well, I mean, we took from Turkish ( slightly changed, of course).

Podrum in Serbo-Croatian. The word "rum" means room in Scandinavian. After all, the Scandinavs in Anatolya some 500-1000 yrs ago as traders and on war-campaigns. Perhaps the Turks added "bod" to the word rum, meaning literally "the room underneath" (hence basement).

I know there's a lot of Turkish words often used in Herzegovina, and some of them are even in official language...

    Examples:

    Jastuk - pillow
Jorgan - don't know the exact translation, but that's stuffed blanket
Čaršaf - also a sort of blanket
    Fildžan - coffee cup
Merak (often used in Bosnia) - satisfaction
Dolma - food, already mentioned above, exists here too
Similar to dolma, there are sarma and japrak

Hell, even the name of my town, Čitluk, is a Turkish word, and if I remember it well, it means something like 'property'...
I changed my signature, now it says something completely different!
