TIJUANA (COCABA) - Mexican forward Lorenzo Mata will join the national team in the COCABA Finals after he was presented to the fans in the semifinal round.
Mata is currently in UCLA where he scored 2 points in the loss to Florida in the NCAA Title game.
This year he played 21 games where he started 8 and scored 76 points and gave 8 blocks.
The COCABA Finals will be played from May 26-28 in Costa Rica and from May 29-30 in Mexico.

The 65-year old coach, with many years of NCAA experience, will coach the Mexican NT this season. This won't be his first FIBA experience: he coached the Panama NT in 2005, qualyfing for the 2006 World Championships.

MEXICO - ADEMEBA gave a list of 22 players called for the Mexican National Team that will train for the 2009 FIBA Americas Championship to be played in San Juan, Puerto Rico from August 26 to September 6.
The practices begin on June 28 at Centro Nacional de Alto Rendimiento in Mexico City under head coach Arturo Guerrero.
The players called are:

Pedro Meza,
Christopher Hernandez,
Ray Castillo,
Anthony Lever-Pedroza,
Miguel Ayala,
Victor Mariscal,
Anthony Grant Esparza,

In the last FIBA Americas Championship (World Qualifier), Mexico finished tenth in the standings and in the 2007 FIBA Americas Championship (Olympic Qualifier) they ended seventh. The Mexican teams wants to qualify for their first FIBA World Championship since 1974.
